Beaumaris Castle — Edward I’s unfinished concentric masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, right in the town centre. Allow a couple of hours for the walls, moat and views. The Pier — Victorian, free, and pointing straight at Snowdonia; crabbing on the boardwalk is a rite of passage. Puffin Island cruises — seals year-round and puffins April to July, with Seacoast Safaris and Starida sailing from the pier in season.
Heritage
The Gaol and 1614 Courthouse tell the crime-and-punishment side of the county town story (check reopening status after refurbishment before visiting). St Mary’s Church holds medieval misericords and Princess Joan’s coffin. Penmon Priory and its dovecote, a short drive east, add a monastic chapter, and our history guide ties it all together.
Outdoors

The Anglesey Coastal Path passes through town — walk east to Penmon Point and the Trwyn Du lighthouse, or south-west towards Menai Bridge. Horse riding on the Menai shore, kayaking and sailing on the strait, and the huge sands of Red Wharf Bay complete the picture. In late July, the Menai Strait Regattas turn the water into a racecourse.

Beaumaris eats far above its weight: the 15th-century Ye Olde Bull’s Head, the Georgian Bishopsgate House Hotel with its AA Rosette restaurant, the nautical Liverpool Arms (1706) and Red Boat ice cream. If You Only Have Half a Day
Run the tight loop: castle (90 minutes, arrive at opening), Castle Street stroll with a Red Boat cone (30 minutes), pier and Green for the mountain view (30 minutes), and — tides willing — the one-hour island cruise to finish. That’s the essence of Beaumaris in under four hours, all within 400 metres of the same car park. With a full day, add lunch at one of the inns and the walk towards Penmon as far as time allows — the one-day plan sequences it properly.
