The Smithy Holiday Cottage

The Smithy, as the name implies, is a tastefully converted former Smithy near Beaumaris with a datestone of 1811. Records show a Smithy in Llanfaes from the early 16th Century so it is assumed 1811 is a 'modernisation' date.

It was converted to a high quality holiday home in around 1985, just before it was acquired by the current owners who have continued to improve and update the Grade 2 listed cottage to its beautifully appointed standard. Many that stay class it as a home and not just a 'holiday cottage'.

It has been awarded 4 Stars by Visit Wales for self catering accommodation.

The Smithy is situated in the quiet hamlet of Llanfaes that is about 1 mile from Beaumaris on the Island of Anglesey, North Wales.

The accommodation comprises of a family living kitchen with log burning stove, cosy two seater settee and wall mounted flatscreen television. Off the kitchen is a utility room with fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/ dryer. The main living room is approximately 650 sq.ft and measures circa 30 feet to the eaves with exposed beams and timber boarded ceiling. It has a vast inglenook fireplace and a large log burning stove.

The Smithy sleeps a total of 8 with various configurations available.

The master bedroom is approached via a spiral staircase that is accessed onto a gallery overlooking the lounge. This double room has exposed timber beams and timber boarded ceiling. It has an open plan bathroom with roll top Victorian bath and separate w/c and wash hand basin.

The second bedroom is accessed via grand double doors off the lounge and gives the option of full size twin beds, or one super king double bed. There is also a feature ensuite bathroom with walk in shower and w/c.

The third double bedroom is approached via a crug stair and has a double bed, built in wardrobes and a wash hand basin. There is also a double sofa bed in this bedroom if required.

A single fold out bed can also be used in either the master bedroom if required.

The main bathroom on the ground floor comprises of 'P' shape bath with shower and corner wash hand basin.

Outside there is a conservatory which opens out onto a patio with cast iron furniture. An Outdoor Chef Gas BBQ is also on the patio. The raised garden makes it a perfect sun trap, benefiting from sun all day long.
